Prophet-5

Polyphony with a memory.

Earlier polysynths either couldn't store sounds or could store only some settings. The Prophet-5 had a microprocessor that could remember every knob, so a keyboard player could move between five-voice patches in the middle of a set.

It has a walnut case, a black panel and two oscillators per voice, and it can be glassy one moment and brassy the next. It set the pattern for how a polysynth would work for the next decade.
